Fun Fact: Alto (Upper) Maipo is a lesser-known but prized sub-region where the terrain climbs into the foothills of the Andes. As the soil transitions from the valley floor up the mountain slopes, it becomes rockier and less moisture-retentive — vines struggle here, producing smaller, more concentrated, more tannic berries that yield some of Chile's most sought-after Cabernets.
