Tasting Note: A lovely ruby red in the glass, with aromas of leather, red currants, wild strawberries, cinnamon, and sandalwood. Fresh acidity, harmonious tannins and a long finish.
Fun Fact: Castello di Verduno's history is intertwined with Barolo itself — in 1838, King Carlo Alberto of Savoy acquired the estate and, working with enologist Paolo Francesco Staglieno, began producing Barolo there, helping lay the foundation for the modern style. The estate is traditionally macerated 30-40 days and aged in large Slavonian oak casks, producing an elegant, airier style of Barolo rather than the bigger, more structured wines of villages like Serralunga.
