Description
Farella Vineyards Farella Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from Coombsville, Napa Valley, California.
Tasting Notes: Deep ruby and opaque with an amaranthine rim, bright and lifted with red-fruited, floral aromas — lavender, dried rose petals, sage, bay leaf, tobacco, red plum, and currant, with a minerally, almost ferrous quality. Vibrant acidity gives juicy, crunchy flavors of red cherry, currant, cranberry, and tart boysenberry, with dusty, chalky tannins that linger long after the fruit fades.
Fun Fact: Frank Farella planted this vineyard in the late 1970s when conventional wisdom said Coombsville was too cool to ripen Cabernet — his son Tom later lobbied for its official AVA designation, granted in 2011. Farella now leases roughly two-thirds of the vineyard to acclaimed Realm Cellars, while continuing its own 2,000-case estate production.
